For my English class we were to create a paper fanzine based on the theme or set of interests of our choice. I chose to make my fanzine about all-star cheerleading because it was a big part of my life for awhile when I lived in Las Vegas. I used to go to cheer practice 3-4 days a week and sometimes our practices would last up to 6 hours long. I learned so much from doing cheerleading. You learn to be fearless, confident, a hard worker, and you learn to be strong physically and mentally. You gain social skills, teamwork, and discipline. All-star cheerleading is not for the weak I must say. It's a hard sport that takes a lot of dedication, crying, failure, you will get hurt but you have to get back up and keep going. I say the 21st century skill this project used the most was our communication skills. I say this because the whole fanzine is basically you communicating to the audience what your interests are. I developed better communication skills from this project because when presenting this project to my audience I had to be clear in my thoughts and get other people interested in what I was communicating about as well. Before starting this project I had no idea what my topic was going to be about but I'm glad I made it about cheerleading. If I were to go back and change anything I would've definitely put more time into my fanzine and made it look way better but I'm still proud of the outcome.
